Attachment and Love

We confuse attachment with love. Attachment is concerned with my needs, my happiness, while love is an unselfish attitude, concerned with the needs and happiness of others.... A relationship free of unrealistic grasping is free of disappointment, conflict, jealousy, and other problems, and is fertile ground for the growth of love and wisdom.

- Kathleen McDonald, "How to Meditate"

Serenity

Serenity
"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."~Edith Wharton

Affirmation
Cradled in the arms of Love, I am peaceful, calm and serene.

Sweet Spirit of Love,

Thank You for:
Pleasant weather,
An email from an old friend,
The sound of crickets chirping,
Bargains at the grocery store,
My cat and dog,
New books to read,
A terrific new music CD,
Memories of departed friends,
Dreams for tomorrow,
And Your peaceful presence.
In Your name, I share my gratitude and love with everyone.

Enthusiasm

“There is no such thing as can't, only won't. If you're qualified, all it takes is a burning desire to accomplish, to make a change. Go forward, go backward. Whatever it takes! But you can't blame other people or society in general. It all comes from your mind.”~Jan Ashford
Affirmation
I am excited about today and filled with hope for tomorrow!
Meditation
Creator of All, Thank You for calling us into a new sense and understanding of life. The challenges we face can be solved. We can learn to live together in peace. Our planet and the resources upon which life depends can be pure and clean. We open ourselves to receive guidance and direction from You. Now is the time for us to take the next step in consciousness. We step forward filled with enthusiasm and passion. Thank You God!

My Heart

I had the most spiritual experience today. I had a Cardiac Echo and saw my heart beating. I saw the mitral valve flapping like a flexible comma and the ventricles opening and closing like the mouths of baby birds.

It was like I was present for the movie of a miracle.

Our hearts work so hard for us and march to the beat of a Divine drummer. How blessed we are to have been given this fragile gift of a human body.

Honor your heart today, clasp it and thank it for its unfailing service.

I love my heart, and I love yours too.

Much aloha,
Rose

Who is Paul P.?

I have no idea but I love his quote:

What I said never changed anybody; what they understood did.--Paul. P.

Control

"We must give up our will, give up control, and release our expectations about a specific result. This is where the going starts to get tough. We want what we want, and usually we want it yesterday. We need to open ourselves up to the possibility that we don't always know what's best for us."~Kathy Cordova
Affirmation
I surrender my need to be in control and trust that Spirit is in charge of my life.
Meditation
Dear God, Sometimes, I stumble over conflicting messages regarding control: "Take control of the situation."Demonstrate control or you'll be considered weak." "Don't lose control." "Get this situation, your people, yourself under control." "Don't be controlling." "You are so controlling, it stifles me." Often, being in control implies that I might know what is best for myself, my family, or the planet and that I can force a specific outcome by sheer force of my will. I know that I do not always know what is the best or highest outcome for myself or anyone else. I see how, at times, being in control is an attempt to be You. I surrender. I surrender my having to be in charge. I surrender my illusions of what is real. I surrender my images of what is best for me. I surrender my willfulness. I surrender my self. I place my life under Your direction, knowing that as I pay attention and listen, You will guide me. Direct every moment, every conversation, every thought and every action. Show me who You created me to be. Show me what I am to do and say today. Express Yourself through me. As I surrender to Your perfection, I am free to be all that I am. Thank You for the peace that fills me now. Amen

dreams

Hi Rose,
Last night I had two dreams in a church. The first one was in the church I grew up going. My grandmother was downstairs in room that had full kitchen and many tables( my older sister had her first wedding at this church and her reception in this room). On the tables were many centerpieces ceramic vases with lavender roses. My grandmother asked what I thought about them. I thought they were beautiful and was overwhelmed at the beauty of the centerpieces. She said if I like them she would make sure I had them (but in the color pink not lavender)at my wedding . She know pink is my favorite color. I loved them. I was so touched she gave this to me. I told her that the were beautiful. I was honored that she gave this to me.what do this mean?
The second dream I was watching a processional at the church and someone said he bought a book to give to the students of the school connected the the church,I made a comment how he should have given more(he was weathy guy),then tasha called me, wentto meet her she was crying before i could asked herwhat was the matter, the phone rang i woke up.

Abundance

"What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us." ~Julia Cameron
Affirmation
Good flows to me easily.
Meditation
Dear God, I appreciate Your constant presence. Thank You for holding my dreams safe and sacred. Even when I had given up on my dreams, you never wavered. Thank You for always believing in me. Thank You for calling forth the very best in me. Everything I need flows easily to me from Your limitless supply. I share generously and lavishly as I am directed, knowing that there is enough of everything for everyone. I open my heart and mind to the Truth: Everything that the Universe has is mine. I accept with a glad and grateful heart. Thank-You very much Great Spirit!

Honey, Every single thing, situation or incident has God in it. The money will come from somewhere else if you need it. The world is not the Source. If a problem exists the solution simultaneously exists, it's a Law of the Universe. Focus on the solution which comes from That which you are trusting, GOD, your Higher Power. Every single thing we need we will have. Love, ~R

Buddhist Wisdom

In the beginning mindfulness takes away worries and fears about past and future and keeps us anchored in the present. In the end it points to the right view of the self.

Praying Through the Storm

And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care if we perish?" And he awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?"~Mark 4:37-40
Affirmation
Standing on faith, I rise above the storms of life.
Meditation
Dear God,
I am grateful for a growing awareness of Your presence and peace. Storms sometimes come in the form of outer conditions and challenges. Then there are internal storms as well that cause us to question or to doubt. When the winds of changes blow and howl, I consciously turn my attention to Your still small voice which reminds me of Your love and peace. In the face of every storm I draw upon my faith to speak the words. “Quiet! Be still.” I know that storms will come and go but Your presence within me abides forever. Your love, Holy One, is the eye in the midst of every storm. I am at peace right here and right now. All is well with my soul. Thank You, God! Amen

Listening to What?

"The true enemy is inside. The maker of trouble, the source of all our suffering, the destroyer of our joy, and the destroyer of our virtue is inside. It is Ego. I call it, 'I, the most precious one'. " ~Gehlek Rimpoche
Affirmation
I have an ego, but I am not my ego.
Meditation
Dear God, It is an interesting twist that both the source of unhappiness and the source of joy are within me. I turn within and move past my ego, to You. There are times that my ego sounds like a brass band, and Your voice is like a child's laughter. This is particularly true for me, when I listen with my ears alone. You speak to me in my feelings, through my heart. As I open my heart to Your people, I am open to hear You. From this open and vulnerable place, I learn to listen and to follow Your guidance. So it is. Amen

The Next Step

“The next step in human evolution is not inevitable, but for the first time in the history of our planet, it can be a conscious choice. Who is making that choice? You are. And who are you? Consciousness that has become conscious of itself.”~Eckhart Tolle
Affirmation
I am committed to the conscious evolution of my soul.
Meditation
Dear God, I have always sensed that there is another realm:
Beyond thoughts about myself and about You;
Beyond the multiple identifications and labels that attempt to define;
Beyond my perceived wants, needs and desires;
Beyond the wisest words and fervently held beliefs;
Beyond, "I" and "my" and you" and "your;"
Beyond win and lose;
Beyond things and nothing;
There is Oneness. I declare to myself and to the universe my willingness to move beyond my current understanding. I consciously choose to take the next step...And so it is!

This Day

"For the rest of my life there are two days that will never again trouble me. The first day is yesterday with all Its blunders and tears, its follies and defects. Yesterday has passed forever beyond my control. The other day is tomorrow with its pitfalls and threats, its dangers and mystery. Until the sun rises again, I have no stake in tomorrow, for it is still unborn. With God's help and only one day to concentrate all my effort and energy on, this day, I can win."
~Og Mandino
Affirmation
In this moment, I am at peace.
Meditation
Dear God, Today is a gift and I am so very grateful. All of my needs are met. There is peace in my heart and a deep sense of connection to the people around me. Today, I am mindful of people who are facing medical challenges, and the professionals who work in the medical field. May both the patients and care providers be aware of Your healing presence. In Your name, I bless them all. Amen

Trust the Process - Trust the Journey

"It was the hardest two years of my life," a woman said. "So many painful, unexpected events happened. I felt so abandoned, so lost. I didn't understand what was happening, and I felt tortured by God and life. I didn't think it would ever end. But it did. Now I can look back on that time and say, Wow. Look at all I learned. There's nothing that life can bring my way that I can't handle and get through." She learned self-confidence. But whether she's conscious of it or not, this woman is beginning to learn the value of trusting the process. Sometimes we don't know what we're learning, or whether we're learning anything at all. It's easy to look back on a situation once it has worked itself out and be in awe of the process and all that we learned. The time we most need to trust the journey is when it looks like we can't.

Buddhist Wisdom

He who treads the Path in earnest Sees not the mistakes of the world; If we find fault with others We ourselves are also in the wrong.

- The Sutra of Hui Neng

When you're pointing a finger at someone else there's three more fingers pointed back at you.

Higher Ground

“Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only hewho keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find his right road.”
~Dag Hammarskjold
Affirmation
My vision is fixed on higher ground.
Meditation
Dear God,Together, we consciously enter the mystery of Your presence with and in us. Paint a new picture of our purpose onto the canvas of our lives. Help us lift our sights beyond the things that distract us and pull us down. We are available to You and for You, right now. Alleluia. Amen

Pause

"If we are too busy, if we are carried away every day by our projects, our uncertainty, our craving, how can we have the time to stop and look deeply into the situation-our own situation, the situation of our beloved one, the situation of our family and of our community, and the situation of our nation and of the other nations?"~Thich Nhat Hanh
Affirmation
I take time to be--with God.
Meditation
Dear God, May the hours of this day allow time to pause and reflect.Let me drink deeply from Your living waters. Thank You for reinvigorating me. All things are new, through You. And so it is.

Surrender

"Usually people only pray for what they want, something for themselves. ’0 dear God, give, give, give! Give me health, give me happiness, give me the necessities, give me all I want, dear God, and I will do what you want', instead of saying, 'Dear Father, Mother Great Spirit I give myself to You; do with me as You will'." ~White Eagle
Affirmation
I am resting in the hand of God.
Meditation
Dear God, Thank You for providing everything I need. I consciously place this day and all it is yet to be, in Your care. Direct each moment and experience. Express Your will in and through my life. You are my joy and my strength. Your breath is my breath. I am filled with Your peace. Thank You. Amen.

Buddhist Wisdom

Hidden in the mystery of consciousness, the mind, incorporeal, flies alone far away.

Those who set their mind on harmony become free from the bonds of death.

- Buddha

Point of Origin

"All emerge from that One Whose Being is ever present and Whose Life, robed in numberless forms, is manifest throughout all creation. Creation is the logical result of the out push of Life into self-expression." ~Ernest Holmes
Affirmation
God is my life.
Meditation
Dear God, You are Life itself, pouring into expression in every moment. As I think about the thousands of forms life takes on this planet, I am deeply humbled. When I consider the billions of planets in the universe, I am awed. I know that every expression of life is an act of Your continuous creation. I realize that every living thing is sacred. Help me to live gently and peacefully with all. Thank You, God. Amen

Loving Service

"The fruit of prayer is the deepening of love, deepening of faith. If we believe, we will be able to pray, and the fruit of love is service. Therefore works of love are always works of peace, and to be able to put our hearts and hands into loving service we must know God, we must know God is love, that He loves us and that He has created us--each one of us--for greater things."
~Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Affirmation
I am happy to serve the cause of love.
Meditation
Dear God, Who would You have me serve today? I accept my assignment to be Your hands and feet, to share a smile and a hug. I greet this day with joy in my heart, knowing that there is work for me to do. Hold our world in Your heart. Show us how to serve and love one another. May Your peace prevail.

Lost and don't know what to do

Aloha, Rose ~~~

Even more so than usual, my life is in a state of upheaval right now, and I just don't know what to do. My teaching contract was not renewed for next year, so as of the end of this month, I'm officially unemployed. I'd only planned to teach here for a year anyway, but this kind of forces the issue. My original plan has always been to return to Oregon, since that's what feels like "home" to me. However, my heart tells me to return to Virginia, since that's where Taylor is.

Or, rather, I know that Taylor isn't really "there," but it's the place he considered home, and it's where he finally found peace. And it feels important for me to be there, but I recognize that much of that feeling comes from a not-emotionally-healthy-right-now part of me.

I've been applying for teaching jobs in Virginia, but without success so, thinking that perhaps the Universe is trying to tell me something, I've now started applying for jobs in Oregon as well. It's early in the process, but I haven't yet heard anything from that direction, either.

At this point, I just don't know what to do -- Oregon? Virginia? Be near Taylor, or just keep him in my heart from afar? He always felt I abandoned him (and, basically, he was right). I don't want to do that again and, honestly, I don't think I can handle any more guilt.

I feel so lost (and, yes, I'm still grieving big time).

Any thoughts?

P&L --

Affirmation
I joyfully accept my divine assignments.
Meditation
Dear God, We all know that there are many challenges facing our society and our world. It is easy to rail and wail that someone must do something, easy to point our finger at others. Help us to be active participants and not passive onlookers. Together, we establish a loving, nurturing environment for everyone. Amen

Dreams

Rose,

I forgot to mention this to you. I have had some strange dreams in the past but this one was weird. I am in a car while Mark is driving, and I have my arm out the window. All of a sudden, a big black bird , typical to a large crow or something, starts pecking at my right arm. Hurting me and causing me to have open cuts. Needless to say I have felt very uneasy since then. What do you think this means?
